About E=MC³ Swim Club

Our Story
Founded by local swimmers, E=MC³ brings together adults of various levels for structured swim workouts in a friendly, encouraging environment.

We swim at the Clarence-Rockland YMCA. Our members range from fitness training, competitive swimmers, triathletes and marathoners.

Our Vision and Mission

Vision

To be a welcoming and inspiring community where adults develop their swimming abilities, enhance their well-being, and enjoy the shared experience of aquatic fitness.

Mission

To empower adult swimmers through quality coaching, structured workouts, and a supportive community—whether the goal is improved technique, endurance, or competition readiness.

Who It’s For

E=MC³ is open to adults (18+) of different experience levels, including:

  • Fitness swimmers

  • Competitive and masters swimmers

  • Triathletes

  • Former athletes returning to the pool

  • Swimmers looking to improve their swimming technique.

What You’ll Experience

As a member of E=MC³, you’ll benefit from guided workouts that help you:

  • Swim as part of a group and build skills through targeted training

  • Practice drills and group swim principles

  • Improve endurance and speed with varying intensities

  • Work on pace times and structured rest intervals

  • Master all four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly

  • Step outside your comfort zone

  • Develop friendships and support community

  • Circle swimming (rotation determined by lane leader)

  • NEVER cross nor swim on the black centre line. Stay on your side of the lane.

  • Maintain a reasonable distance between swimmers

  • Pass courteously by tapping feet or moving over to let a faster swimmer go by

  • At the wall, allow the faster swimmers to go ahead of you.

  • Resting: ALWAYS make sure to move to the side of the lane

  • Slower swimmers must yield to faster swimmers

  • Don’t push off the wall right before a swimmer turns, let a faster swimmer go first

  • Pace clock: Leave the wall at the start of a set EXACTLY 5 seconds after the swimmer in front of you.
